Artist...Priscilla Renea

OK, So I Finally got my copy of breakthough artist PRISCILLA RENEA's debut EP 'Hello My Apple' courtesy of iTunes. Ok seriously If You have not yet heard of this artist, you have been in the dark. She has a Beautiful voice and has the star quality to match the talent. She has a knack for doing various covers, most recently, of Drake's 'Best I ever had' from his "So Far Gone Mixtape" She has the style of hip hop fused with soul as she blends her acoustic guitar with poetic lyrics. I am absolutely in love with this EP and have even got a few of her covers on my iPod, she is definatly an artist that I LOOK foreward to hearing more from, I eagerly anticipate more music from her. And who knows, maybe in the future I might even get to work with her. But right now, I am defiantly more than happy to be a fan. More than anyone

Okay so I think that i have been through enough in life to not take things for granted, meaning people, opportunities, relationships etc.. especially friends and family. i find that i now value time with my friends and my family at the utmost of priorities. And I appreciate and savor every second i spend with them. In the past few weeks, i have had some very good times with my friends, and, i jus LOVE recapping those moments in my mind. Life is such a blessing, God gives us this time on this amazing world and all we have to do is follow his lead and make the best of it. Soak up the art and culture the world has, find someone to love and enjoy and appreciate every thing that life has to offer. I've seen life move so fast, and slip away so fast, so i guess I'm just saying that, i don't take anything for granted, not one thing. So if you hear me saying "I love you" a bunch of times, thats just me appreciating you, and the blessing that you are in my life.

Colorful Inspiration

Photoblogs are cool. I always try to find a few good ones to look at every now and then, good photography sparks my inspiration for other things. So Anyways I was looking on a few photoblogs and didn't quite find anything that interested me...buuuut I happened to stumble upon a few pics of this years Festival of Colors in India that I found quite striking. Today

in between, laughs and giggles,
and lazy channel surfing.
mayonnaise-less turkey sandwiches
and fraternal twin smirkings
scorching 4'o'clock sun
and 3 umbrellas
long drive in the night
never-mind the over zealous
cuz i delight in the time that is spent in joy
and time spent sharing chuckles and grins
cuz we all like to see the fruit of those braces' labour
and as always we do return the favor,
exchange jokes as love
and gripes and hugs
in the midst of God in the House,
and family in our friends
watching an artist capture art
as the sun slunk beneath the island,
the change of plans, to four from solo
the peeping tom's over the balcony
the singer's sultry serenade engulfing a VW polo.
2day was that magnified,
never over dramatized beauty that can be described as
the simple perfection
of a banana pancake with syrup and vanilla ice cream for dinner.

Lost...in..thought

Thoughts...
today is one of those days where I have been constantly thinking. like where i feel that my mind barely stopped for a breather to do anything other than contemplate. i dunno, i mean i guess I've always been one to be lost in thought. actually no guess, i have been. I'm a dreamer what can i say. But today was different, it was serious thinking, decision making, worrying (i know its soo not worth it), thinking about the person that i am, thinking about my faults, my relationship with God, like seriously i covered pretty much every avenue in thought today. and I'm still perplexed. Someone wise told me today not just to think but to do! Sound advice.
But..I'm not exactly sure what to do...
it'll come..

New York is by far THE most intriging and artistic city in my opinion. From the cobbled streets in the village to the lofts in brooklyn. The City has character...I'm definitely gonna make it back there one day...soon.

BRAVE New Voices

DOPE! When I say DOPE I MEAN IT!!! OK Now I was geeked when Russell Simmons unveiled Def Poety, Now this!! Man look, If there is an art from that I can just say touches my soul so deeply, it is definitely Spoken Word, Slam Poetry, Poetry, whateva u wanna call it! Words are so beautiful, used to describe, and evoke meaning from just simple syllables, its amazing to me. Now this Show, being that its young people makes it all the more Dope! Young Poets, with young, fresh passion, I love it. I love it i love it i LOVE it! I'm already a fan of one of the poets 'Jasmine Bailey'. She's off the hook, just listening to her for those few seconds was enough for me to become a fan. I WILL be watching this from now on.

My Art

Ok so in relation to my last post i found this poem that i wrote a while ago that HAUNTINGLY describes exactly how I feel 2day and pretty much says my last post just in poetic form...At the time i titled this poem "My Art" sooo thats why this post is that title. might as well right.

so yeah, i don't remember when I wrote this. it was just floating around in the cyber world of my computer.
(P.S...I just thought that the whole "Thinker" pic would go with the post..lol)




My art is that of hailed queens and overrated deities,
they yearn for the product of my creativity,
I am the budding, artistic pleasure that you are clearly are smitten with
and the irony of the situation
is that my art doesnt physically exist.

not hung in galleries, on graced pages of first editions
but is hidden among the subconcious section of this world..
and when I can't create I don't suffer from writer's block..
I suffer from thinker's block,

because whatever my mind conjures is artistic..
the very thoughts that flow to my brain are that of an aesthetic nature
but my thoughts are clouded,
so the door knocking to inspiration has lowered its fist
and honestly its a miss.
Inspiration hasn't visited me,
so now my art lacks..

Uninspired...

They say this feeling is 'writer's block'...i'm pretty sure i'm wayyyyy past that. I have thinker's block. I can't even seem to come up with an original artistic idea of any sort...hmm strange...it's been like this for a minute. i think my art is starting to lack in ways that is upsetting me..Sigh..anways...this too shall pass right..

Thought for the day, "Recovery"..

Getting back to a bit of 'normalcy' that is the essence of recovery... its getting back to where you started from.
So many times, we hit a bump and kind of 'injure' ourselves on the crazy journey called life, when this happens its good take a minute, sit back, and regroup, help yourself build back up to what you once was...Recover.. I'm in Physical recovery right now, so aside from the IV's and puncture wounds from needes, I'm on the road back to normalcy...

Artist... Shanelle Gabriel

Ok so I have to be the BIGGEST Shanelle Gabriel fan...mannn the way she uses similes and metaphors in her poems creates images so vivid i not only hear her, but i see, smell and FEEL every word she says. I got the opportunity to meet her at the Nuyorican one night while I was living in NY...of course she WON the slam that night. Anyways...Just had to share some of her brilliance, She's seriously off the hook. I would LOVE to collab with her one day, poetically, musically, anything!

The significance of today is Monumental..to say the least..

In Bermuda, we make traditional Bermuda kites, fly them, eat our hot cross buns & fishcakes and maybe go to church....all activities were accomplished today... :)

Falling...
